The"Txori Toki"

The architectural qualities of the residence built above the wine cellar can only be described as capricious. Reminiscent of houses in the villages of Aquitaine, but accentuated by the observation-tower which dominates its surroundings. The tower, of course, has characterised the López de Heredia site since its foundation, becoming the symbol that has spread throughout the world on the bottle labels.

Don Rafael intended the tower to have a double purpose. One was that the name of the firm should be visible from a great distance; but also to be an observatory from which to study the vineyards and the meteorological situation. This tower was given a charming Basque name: "Txori Toki", bird house.
