Viña Bosconia Gran Reserva 1991
- Characteristics of the vintage:
- Recorded by the Regulating Body as a VERY GOOD year. The yields were not high, but grape quality was exceptional. 1991 was a year of very low and irregular rainfall throughout Rioja. We began harvesting the Viña Bosconia vineyard on 21st October. The average sugar (to be turned into alcohol) content was 12.5%, with acidity levels of 6.5 g/l of tartaric acid. These were perfect parameters for making a wine to age and evolve.
- Tasting note:
- Colour: Ruby with tawny rim. Nose: Persistent with complex mineral notes. Taste: Rounded, smooth, fine and long-lasting.
- Grape Varieties:
- Tempranillo (80%), Garnacho (15%), Mazuelo and Graciano (the remainder), all from our own vineyards.
- Ageing period:
- 9 years, being racked twice a year and fined with fresh egg whites. Bottle: Rest, bottle unfiltered in 75 cl. bottles.
- Alcohol Volume:
- 12% Vol.
- Total Acidity:
- 6.5 g/l.
- Residual Sugar:
- Very dry.
- Gastronomy:
- The perfect accompaniment to roasted and highly flavoured meats, T-bone steaks & suckling pig. Desserts with chocolate.
- Conservation period:
- Don’t forget the vintage. Conservation depends on the perfect conditions of constant temperature (14ºC) and humidity (75-80%).
- Serving Temperature:
- 18-20ºC, always depending on the time and place.
- Quantity made:
- 5,000 bottles.
