Gravonia vineyard

The wines from Viña Gravonia come from our vineyard called Viña Zaconia. The name refers to its local name. However our founder used to called the wines Viña Zaconia the years when he made a sweet white wine made with “noble rot”. Also he called them Viña Sauternia, name coming from the french name sauternes. We have plenty of documents that show this story.

The vineyard is 200 meters from the winery and close to the river Ebro. It was bought by our great grandfather. Its height is 340 m. and the average age of the vines is 45 years. The orientation is south. The soil is poor and stony where the roots of the vines go deep and that way we obtain very balanced grapes from the maturation point of view. The soils are white in colour which helps to produce white grapes. Viña Gravonia has a surface of twenty-four ha. all of them of Viura grape.
